How to respond?

by Adam J. Schmidt on October 15, 2007

Just took in the video of Rep. Knollenberg’s Chief of Staff being confronted by a Moveon.org activist during recess – looks as though they wore him down with their tactics.  I understand how they can get to you with enough of their stalking. So I’m wondering what is the best way to respond?

Obviously confronting them on camera leads you susceptible to being caught up in the moment.  Perhaps having your own tracker on staff would work – filming the Congressman 24/7 so you’d end up with dueling activists with camera’s confronting each other instead of their side getting to your leadership.

I recall a Stephen Colbert interview with Rep. Jack Kingston that used this approach – they had an intern with their own camera filming everything and released the raw footage to serve as a counterpoint to what Colbert was going to edit down for the show.
